They are restricted in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Virginia. Everywhere else you are good. Though I believe some states you have to be able to prove they aren't full blooded wolves.
And you NEVER want to have a second dog, regardless of breed, because they are very pack oriented. As long as you only have the one, they consider the humans their pack, but if another dog is added there is a risk of the hybrid prioritizing the dog over the humans
No if they are illegal (because they are considered wild animals and as such they are restricted) they seize the animal and charge the owner with illegal possession. Basically you have to get special dispensation to own wild animals.
My aunt had a wolf dog and a bunch of German Shepards. That wolf dog was what taught me to respect dogs the way I do. Especially considering the wolf dog mothered me at times considering she had a couple of litters.
I’ll always miss that animal. She was a good dog. I hope one day to own one or a few.
I found Black Shuck
