Not quite appeasement. Trump has been applying maximum pressure to get Kim to the negotiating table. Now that he's playing ball we have to make some concessions. Everyone involved understands that this is the best chance of avoiding a war that Kim wouldn't survive, we're still negotiating from a position of strength.

The hair is bad, sure, but Trump cannot wear a suit for the life of him. His ties are way too long (they're never supposed to go past the belt buckle), he pants are always baggy, and his jackets are boxy.
