It's a high caliber pistol right? Like a desert eagle? If nothing else it says something good about the shielding on his armor that it can take multiple shots from it.

It doesn’t have anything to do with strength though, right? It’s just the laws of physics, equal and opposite reactions and all that shit

It does tho. The stronger a person is the more recoil they can handle. The force of the gun firing is opposed by the force created by their muscles.
