Y'know...as a psychologist and a sociopath, I can see that making sense to a child.

I don't think you have to be either of those for it to make sense

That doesn't change the fact that if I'm both it would make sense.

I don't want to start a dumb fight but I'm confused as to how you are a certified psychologist who is also a sociopath? That's not a good mix of traits and career choices imo

Well. It is said that many people who study to become a psychologist do it mainly to discover themselves, i suppose "this_isntme" discovered that he shared certain traits with the general sociopath, thus coming to the conclusion that he himself is one. May sound very specific but i've known more than one person with that situation

Yeah, apparently some people think that sociopaths/psychopaths are cool? Although a sociopathic psychologist would be incredibly rare as sociopaths are violent and impulsive.

Ok, OK. I'm not officially a sociopath. We, meaning psychologists, don't classify people as either sociopaths or psychopaths. That's TV lingo. The true diagnoses is antisocial personality disorder. It just means I have to remind myself not to commit murder in the elevator. Or in the hall. Sometimes on the roof. Although if you are on the roof with me you technically are kinda asking for it.

The random tendencies to want to commit murder on a dime remind me of OCD symptoms. They could be intrusive thoughts. I can almost assure you you’re not sociopathic.

I'm not sure someone who is antisocial would be drawn to the field of psychology. I've met plenty of fellow psychologists with depression, anxiety, narcissism, etc. but I think it'd be very difficult for a "sociopath" to succeed.

@ignorance, I very much agree with you as I am one of those people. @this_isntme, I don't wanna knit pick as I only started this out of curiosity but sociopath and psychopath aren't TV lingo, although I agree that the definitions of these are vague so it helps to put a more specific name to it. I disagree that you are a sociopath as what you describe doesn't follow the symptoms of someone with that disorder (taken from the current DSM). In the field you are in you have to be able to work harmoniously with other people, with actual symptoms of a sociopath you would struggle immensely to do so. I suggest if you want to claim that, you have another professional diagnose you.
