That might be true, but it will motivate others to the same and spread the movement, so by talking about it, posting it, whatever, more good will be done, than by being modest and keeping it all to yourself. To a homeless person in need, if does not matter if you post about it later, they are glad to receive the help.

I work for a homeless organization and we post on our Facebook and twitter every time somebody volunteers to serve lunch. It helps spread the word and it turns out making people feel good about doing good is a heck of a motivator.

Unless you do it as part of a group or organization and want to promote activities that would benefit others...other than that I agree.

If helping those in need becomes something trendy, whose to discount people who wouldn’t otherwise commit themselves to something that kind-hearted, intentions rarely matter when the action itself is righteous, imo

True. But sometimes in projects there could be people who really don't do anything and just pose for the pic for likes and never participate again. So hopefully the actions become trendy and no just taking the picture

A lot of programs have time requirements for volunteers to tamp down on that kind of stuff. My organization does 2 hours minimum for volunteers.
