We just changed ourselves though. Our own bodies and the environment are different. Besides, I'd say yes, not wanting to die and managing not to die for a little while longer is good.
Not really. Longer life expectancy and lower infant mortality rates are contributing to the overpopulation crisis which may someday in the future be the downfall of our planet.
But that's only because while places are advanced enough to not have a lot of their people die early, they still haven't implemented effective use of birth control etc.
Sadly, the places they've tried to implement birth control hasn't worked well at all. China and India in particular both had rather horrific circumstances/results in this regard, and the consequences are still trickling down. And the countries are both still horrendously overpopulated.
I'm not sure humans will ever been wise, prepared, or willing enough to effectively hold our populations in check at this point-- in a manner that isn't blatantly violating human rights, at any rate
I've never been able to figure out what makes people think there's an overpopulation crisis. The science isn't even solid on whether the population is going to keep growing for more than the next 100 years.
