Shit like this makes me want to no longer believe in myself. People who get straight A's in school, have a social life, do community work, have 3 side jobs are now the minimum requirement for any fucking decent chance in life, and then there are 5 yr olds who discover time travel and makes the rest of us feel like shit.
Don't get me wrong, congrats for your hard work, but I mean if people like this exist what is even the point of trying if the standard is being raised to impossible amounts
I mean, the only reason anyone cares about this kid is because he's NOT the standard. If everyone could paint the Sistine chapel, Nobody would even remember Michelangelo's name
There's nothing wrong with being "standard." If people weren't standard, Nobody would ever have a chance to shine.
And just because someone seems more accomplished than you doesn't mean what you do doesn't matter. The sun shines brighter than anything, provides light and heat, but people still spend hours upon hours gazing at the less-impressive stars
The standard for living isn't really the same issue here, and I agree the demands for that can be beyond reasonable and stressful at times, and I sadly don't really have a solution for that. All you can do is what you can do
Instead of viewing this as a way to measure and degrade yourself, try to appreciate the beautiful unique gift this boy has been given. Prodigies are truly a blessing, and (as others have noted) do not dim your own achievements but show us what is possible.
