Is the Women World Cup advertised as much? Do we talk about women playing soccer? No, because we still think that most sports, including soccer, are a man's thing.
Most football people don't give dried turd for womens' football because it's frankly awful..... no speed, power and comically bad goalkeeping. I've tried, my wife has tried, our friends have tried but...... no....... no thanks. A bad mens match is still better than a 'good' womens match.
tbh in my opinion womens sports tend to be watered down verisions of mens sports and it just has to do with how we are made. WNBA vs NBA is a really good example. In the nba we see flashy dunks amazing 3 point shots over people posters ankle breakers on a regular basis. I have yet to see someone dunk on a wnba hoop. Im pretty sure there has been only a handful of pretty lame ones. No lebron tomohawks or kawaii statue of liberty dunks. They just dont play the same quality of basketball. Just watch a game of both and you will see it feels slower, shots never look good or like they are going in, and just overall less exciting.
Everyone once in awhile someone brings this up again and pretends they have a valid argument about it.
There are examples of sexism in industries, and wage gaps, but the pay gap between championship sports matches are not where they're at in this circumstance.
By now everyone is aware women play sports. Nobody is NOT aware. You're choosing to ignore the fact that going to world cups-- or any sporting event outside of your own city-- is usually damn expensive. And even going to ones IN your town can be a financial drain. People are not going to do it for a team they don't enjoy watching. Statistically, most people don't enjoy watching womens' sports. Is it because they're women? Not really. It's because, as stated here, the people playing are usually not capable of competing at the same level as the best players in the sport. They're not usually as fast, or as strong, there's some element missing. Don't forget, at their heart, sports are a competition before anything else.
The majority of people aren't going to buy the tickets, merchandise, TV packages for something that's not presented at the level they want to see it.
This is not sexism, this is supply and demand.
I've used this example before, and I will again, but do you think male porn stars make the same money as females? Strippers? Do you think male cheerleaders get even half the attention? Admittedly, I'm not a big sports person overall, but I can't recall ever actually seeing a male cheerleader outside of movies ever. There isn't a demand for men in these industries. You may not *like* that these are the industries women get paid more in, but that's neither here nor there.
Sexism in this situation would be if a woman, who played as well or better than a man, who could take and give hits just as well as a man, tried out and *proved* she was able to compete with the best, and still got turned down. Or got signed by the league and was then informed she'd be making less regardless of performance than her male teammates.
The best sports people get rewarded the most. If women want to be paid equally in sport, they should compete at the same level.
Why are women segregated in sport, when they wouldn't be, in other work places. Is that not sexist? Is that inequality?
Should black men not have their own basketball league for example?... as they are taller and stronger than white men?
I don't want there to be an end to womens sport, its just a paradox that no one ever mentions. Oh well!
What what? Black men are often taller, but not always stronger. And height isn't even always the defining factor in what makes a good player.
Look at freaking Tom Brady-- He's considered the greatest quarter back of all time, and the guy can't even run. He's not fast, he's not particularly tall or heavy, but he can play his position well, and that's what matters.
Unless the NBA was taken over by reverse Nazis are some point and I missed it, they operate much the same way.
As long as the men of other races can still compete on their level, they're allowed in the league. There was a time the tallest player in the NBA was Chinese. If the black men want to go off and play by themselves, that's their choice, and they can make their own league to do so, and see how far it gets them.
But my understanding of NBA, and all national sports is that they want the best (like no one ever was). They're not looking specifically for men, or for black people, or whites.
They're looking for a human who can play at that level. Play your position, or gtfo of the way for someone who can.
Your logic is mentioning a paradox that doesn't exist.
Women segregate themselves currently so they can actually play competitively at all, because, for the most part, if they tried out, they'd be rejected, because they can't keep up. It's the same reason you weight divisions in wrestling and such. Is that weight-ist now?
If we did that we wouldnt have larry birds or john stocktons bro. Some of the greatest players of all time good af. Baseketball more than how you built them court smarts get you far.
