3rd. He has his moments, but he relies too much on his awkwardness as physical comedy, and most of his material devolves to exaggerated obnoxiousness, or contortions and noises. While those things CAN be funny, they somewhat rely on the unexpected, and when you see Will Ferrel, you almost always know what to expect. Comedians that make their careers on a consistent expectation tend to at least keep a persona but change material. They tend to either target current events or social issues and try and approach from an unexpected angle. Comedy doesn’t have to be political or a comentary on humanity, but even Gallagher tries to be novel in how he smashes watermelons, and has done well with his longevity because of it.
