Ummm.... while not necessarily showing a strong knowledge base, or much education on the matter- this is actually a rudimentary exhibit of science. While their methods and conclusions could be refined- if you didn’t already have someone to tell you things like how many bones you have, or that you have bones- you’d have to start somewhere. When people wonder how it took so long for seemingly simple discoveries to be made in the past, this is why. People weren’t necessarily less intelligent, there was just less widely availoble information, and many things had to be figured out on your own without someone else to tell you “basic” facts. While being willfully ignorant isn’t a virtue, simply not knowing or having learned something isn’t. The fact that a person can learn is the best sign for the future. On a philosophical level a person who knows almost nothing but actively tries to learn has a better potential than a person who knows much more but refuses to explore, think, and learn.
