Love may be too strong and straight forward a word. Family, pack, pride, or belonging may better accurately describe the situation.

I feel like it is more like a symbiotic relationship they live with us and get food water and somewhere safe to stay and depending on the animal we get a companion and/or in the case of working animals help in completing tasks
