Goku at his strongest can fight and dodge without thinking and is at least galactic level destruction power potentially universal level destructive power. He would easily destroy
gauntlet-less thanos however once he has the full gauntlet he becomes effectly a god and is completely unmatched by 99% of the dbz universe including goku.
Goku would do that then send Gohan
