Sometimes. Or sometimes if a company quotes a very high price, that’s just their pricing. If a company quotes a very low price, does that mean they don’t care about the work they do? Often, but not always. Price and value aren’t always the same. You need to factor in tangible and intangible benefits to make a true assessment of cost versus value. Of course, setting an arbitrarily high cost to a good, service, or labor is one way to set up a “no lose” when you either would rather not actually conduct the transaction, or you feel it’s going to be more trouble than it is worth. For instance if a client has a reputation as being difficult or demanding, a higher cost reflects the extra labor and stress expected in having to deal with them. Sometimes a job simply isn’t the worth the time otherwise too.
