The females are also bigger than the males. I remember reading awhile ago that the cry so often associated with them is actually often not a bald eagle at all. Much like the lion roars in the lion king, the cry of the actual animal isn't as majestic as people would like, so it was often replaced with the cry of a hawk of some kind.
