.. Sad to admit that I forgot the chick was in an egg for a second and I was horrified thinking about something trying to peck it's way out of a vagina

What about baby kangaroos they are the size of a jellybean than climb their way blind to the mom's pouch. They only have working arms their legs don't even work yet. Than they stay in the pouch till big enough to get out on thier own. And usually by than it is because the mom has another baby ready for the pouch.
