You forget to mention that many women who showed signs of deep depression where put in mental hospitals than they took a metal stick (sometimes it was a ice pick) and swiveled it in part of your brain through your eye till everything that made you you is gone and you are now a Stepford wife.
So yeah time travel away because I am sure that they gladly give you that fun stuff. You know seeing as many hospitals believed the same as churches that a woman who enjoys sex was a sinner and that sexual devices were ungodly material. But chances are you will get the heroine but more likely at a dose that could kill you because it was cut with chemicals that at the time they had no idea was harmful. But hay good news is you can always just ask to leave right I mean you are in a mental hospital and chances are you can sign yourself out if you sign yourself in. O wait girls were not allowed to sign thier self in. So yeah enjoy "curing" your depression in that time period.
I thought the leading cure was tying them to the bed and stopping them from moving, interacting, or living in general until they finally agreed to stop all the nonsense and were declared cured. Or was that just for hysteria?
Pretty much any female complaint that wasn't immediately physical (i.e. a broken arm) was labeled hysteria until Freud started actually talking to women and taking their problems seriously.
