Story time.
So a former coworker of mine got me some pancake mix from the states once. And everyone in my family liked it and people kept wanting pancakes so I ran out pretty quickly and figured I should get some more. But the company wouldn't ship to Canada.
Eventually my parents ended up going to America (unrelated to the pancake mix) and they were staying with my aunt, so I asked if I could order a couple bags and ship them to her house and they could bring them back. They said that would be fine. So I decided to go through Amazon since I already had an account on there and ordered a couple of bags.
I don't know what went wrong, if I misread something, or if THEY misread something, but either way something got messed up.
My aunt's son shows up at her house one day after stopping to get her mail for her, apparently red in the face, completely out of breath, hauling some huge box with him he can barely get through the door that weighed God only knows how much, and wanting very much to know what the hell is IN this box.
Turns out the company, instead of sending 2 bags of mix, had sent 2 PACKAGES of mix. 3 bags per package.
Suddenly what had started as a simple trip to the states turned into the great pancake smuggling operation of 2016. My parents had pancake mix EVERYWHERE. Pounds of the stuff. Suitcases stuffed to the brim. I believe my dad hadn't even taken a carry on bag when he left, but he had one now.
No idea how they managed to get it all across the border. Oddly enough, despite packing literal pounds of white powder in every bag imaginable, not one person on either side of the border stopped them or even questioned them on what was going on.
Honestly, I usually just make thick pancakes. I use sweet condensed milk instead of syrup, so the extra thickness lets me slop up more of that delicious dairy.
