I'm with the black dude here. I see no point in remakes and reboots where the only purpose is to appease the people crying over equality. The live action Teen Titans is a perfect example. Why ruin Starfire's whole appearance just to make her black? As a black man i see no NEED for artificial diversity in media. A show/movie is good because of the writing, not the color of the actor/character's skin. We need to value quality over Equality in media imo.

Preach. I want black characters, but I want reasons why theyre there, and for them to fufill their purpose. I also dont want it to be set in America in a historically white place then be filled with other races(unless it focuses on that race in that setting, like say a movie about black people in Silicon Valley), because that is just as bad as whitewashing.
I mean the problem isn't even that she's black. She could be literally any race/ethnicity as long as they airbrushed her whatever shade of orange she is suppose to be and didn't make her outfit look like a 2 bit hooker from Atlantic City
My main problem was that she looked like a hooker not that she was black , and yes they could have just painted the actress orange.
I don't see how it could be racist either orange is not a natural skin color , their is no ethnicity related to it , it's a neutral color like blue , red , or green . You can't claim painting someone green is racist.
