Boyband? No. They formed on their own and made a name for themselves by playing gigs all over liverpool before becoming world famous. Boyband are formed by producers and record executives that assemble a bunch of pretty boys that can dance and sorta sing and then hype the shit out of them.

For something to be consider a boyband it just has to be teen boys singing love songs towards a female target audience.

Pop has no sound distinction or standard. Pop isn't music its a genre that defines what "Pop"-ular. hahaha
