It's hot as balls and humid to boot. When you sweat your ass off walking around campus 4 times a day you'll be hoping for a sudden summer flash freeze.
@jay2327 you would not ask that if you'd suffered through 5 months of 100+ (37.7c), 4 of those months with temps steady between 115 (46c) to 120 (48.8c). And now our A/C is out. I would gladly take snow over melted shoes.
I don't know that metric stuff . But a friend said you just double it and add 30. So 46,double it, that's 92 and add 30 that's 122. And I asked about beer and he's like"yeah just double it and add 30." So a six pack is ....uhm 6 and 6 is twelve and add 30 that's 42 metric beers. And I'm ok with that.
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) × 5/9
or
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) / (9/5)
or
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) / 1.8
Example
Convert 68 degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius:
T(°C) = (68°F - 32) × 5/9 = 20 °C
Or just use google conversion tool if you don't want to go to all that trouble
You do realize hurricane deaths aren't actually totalled for days, if not longer, because they are still finding bodies. And of course that's less than the normal perdiam deaths, what an absolutely ridiculously idiot statement. That's like saying the mortality rate of a shooting spree is less than the state average a day. I would sure as hell hope so, given the number of people who die a day. The point is, regardless of it being downgraded, it was still a bitch of a storm.
It's a small wind. People are buying into the media "Weather Channel" "Accuweather". It's a small storm and people are being inconvenienced because asshats are making it a big thing. Until the media decided to make storms a "Big Event" most folks just closed their windows. This is not the next Katrina. It's a slow moving rain shower in the Carolinas.
This isn't the next Katrina because A: people actually evacuated. B: The entire geology of the area affected is completely different, New Orleans was literally a BOWL built below sea level. C: The storm itself didn't do the majority of the damage,it was the severely outdated levees that fail AFTER the worst of the storm was over and flooded the city. Harvey wasn't much of a hurricane, but that "small wind" sure did one hell of a number on Texas. Before Katrina most people completely ignored evacuation orders, just as you are wanting. Look how that turned out for the people who stayed in New Orleans.
I remember a post some time back saying they should name hurricanes things like super death megatron 5000 so people will actually be scared enough to evacuate
Hey, settle. New Orleans is a bowl. I never said anything different. The fact that people want to make bank and sell commercials when absolutely nothing is going on is my problem.
Category 1 hurricanes put off at the lowest around 70 mph winds. That's strong enough to completely tear down some buildings after long enough exposure. Neighborhoods are being flooded hard enough to submerge small cars. My uncle would have been sent with his disaster response group had he not had a heart attack recently. It's not just a small storm
@Bethorien. I .....I like you let's don't . You are a wonderful person. But we both know that cars are being dunked in trap holes and the press is taking pictures. Please, let's .
Why don't you just take your tin foil hat and go. Obviously you live in your own conspiracy filled world where actual reality and human experience don't hold any sway.
Oh and this Hurricane was a massive disaster. You @Celticrose and @Bethorien need to get a grip. This wasn't a disaster. It was a windstorm. You want to boo hoo then deal with uncontrolled fires in the west. The only people that actually care about this faux storm are Lowes and Home Depot.
I've seen the flooding from people from the area. It's bad. Compatible to some of the flooding I've seen in my area during bad flash floods. Also the death toll has gone up to a confirmed count of 12
You know what @bethorien, they are either A) a troll or B) they choose to be ignorant. Either way there is no point in arguing with them, it won't do any good. You can't cure willful stupidity, no matter the source.
I bet over the same time period twice as many people die in Chicago. And Compatible? WTF does that even mean? Did you dumb ass mean comparatively? Because maybe you did and you are too stupid to actually use the correct word.
Minor storms frequently result in deaths from vehicular accidents, electrical shocks from downed power lines and the odd internet moron. Oh, @celticrose.. I'm not biting at the obvious bait. Oh, It's sweet and tasty. But not gonna bite.
1. Deflecting and 2. Total wild guess information that's demonstrably false by actual statistics. Most accidents are caused by what is usually listed as "drive inattentiveness" or intoxication. Weather comes in at a moderately far trailing 3rd
How in the hell would anything result in -1 or sub -1 amounts of death? That means people get extra lives ? WTH does that even mean. You want to talk deflection, get your house in order.
Sub-1 is "below 1." The dash serves to denote spacing not as a negative symbol. Anyone that believes a hurricane is a sham needs to be put in an asylum so their inane grotesque stupidity can't hurt anyone else
Weather is the 3rd highest cause of deaths in the same way my cousin is the 3rd best shot in my family. The difference between 2nd and 3rd is rather wide
Who said a hurricane is a sham? I said it was a G1 and had winds in the 45 mph range. That's gonna bring some rain. If you don't have flood insurance you are f'd. Twelve people have passed. I feel for their families. But if they gave a damn they would have moved them out days ago. It's not like anybody could see this weather thing crossing the Atlantic Ocean.
