something about the top of the chair to the roof isn't making any sense.
Oh... that's only the largest commercial aircraft in existence, nothing like 90% of domestic US flights.
It's a B777 with a different seat configuration. Still not a normal fucking sized aircraft.... it has a larger wingspan than a 747 and is the largest twinjet.
da fuck is that door? I've honestly been sitting here debating whether I'd be happier traveling in a 3x3x3 setup or a 2x4x2 setup.
Conclusion on my self-argument... how many seats potentially piss me off because of one side? How many because of two? I realized.... it doesn't fucking matter.... guess what? 2x4x2 is better for upper luggage and if they try and jack that shit I'm fucking done.
Generally we can agree that it's amazing how mankind could find a way to outplay gravity and fly from one continent to another and then make it to the most miserable travel experiences in existance.
If you're struggeling between 333 and 242, I recommend the A380 with a 343 setup. ;)
is there even a domestic route that uses an A380? LA to NY or Atlanta or Chicago are about the only routes worth it.... LA to HNL maybe... that'd make more sense than LA to NY.
I once read another kids idea about making a plane that was solely used as a quick mode of transportation for business people and it did not allow any luggage other than a personal item and he basically had a plane like this with two sets of seats instead of the luggage area and his idea was that you could use it for short like 20 minutes flights from city to city like a train for quick commutes. Not entirely plausible but interesting to try to think of applications for it.
There were several approaches for two level seating, some where very interesting and actually possible to install in an aircraft, but there are several regulations not allowing this to happen. To name just two, there's the question of evacuation in emergency, which would get complicated and slower, the other one that for a 16G certification, the materials would need to be very heavy and the fixation of seats to the fuselage would increase the weight furtherly.
Other ideas in this direction were "standing seats" for short-haul flights e.g. this one https://www.express.co.uk/travel/articles/947825/plane-seats-standing-passengers-flight
But again, airlines want their seats to have a 16G certification...
