Every time I eat at a place that serves Chinese food I ask for chop sticks my husband can't do it lol he claims it is due to him being left handed. So I switch the chop sticks to my left and continue eating lmao he hates that. I am mainly right handed but I can use my left just as well. And with somethings I am even better with my left. (DON'T BE A PERV LMAO)
Our daughter wants to try but gives up after a while lmao she wants her food faster lol.
But every time I ask for chop sticks I get a look for the wait staff like well guess I will be cleaning rice off the floor now. I always want to go BITCH I NEVER DROP A SINGLE GRAIN!!! I GOT SKILLS YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN! I CAN CUT FOOD AND NOODLES WITH MY CHOP STICKS! I EVEN KNOW HOW TO BREAK THE END OFF TO REST THEM ON IT.
But I never do yell at them I just grin and say thank you and eat the food.
I swear sometimes I hate being to nice lmao.
There are three sisters in my family, I am the oldest. My mum is european and my dad is european/asian. The middle child (my younger sister) and I were partially raised with my Asian grandma and can use chopsticks with ease. But my little sister, who is the youngest, was only raised with my parents and can't use chopsticks. They can only cook food eaten with forks and such. So it's kind of weird.

I'm left handed as is my hubby and we can both use chopsticks
So, I learned to use chopsticks just because it seemed cool. (I was a child). And my family does Chinese food every Christmas eve, so once a year I got to be cool because I could use chopsticks and most of my family couldn't.
I didn't know that I was particularly good as using chopsticks. I was good enough not to make a mess, but I also assumed that only children and beginners would make a mess while eating with chopsticks. And I wasn't a beginner anymore, nor was I a young child.
So, when I was in middle school I made friends with some hardcore anime fans. Like, they were learning Japanese, and dreamed of going to Japan one day. They studied Japanese culture, including Japanese food. They owned non disposable chopsticks.
I had never known anyone to own chopsticks before, and I knew that they could use them, because I had eaten bento boxes for lunch with my friend. Anyway, she had a birthday party that was Japan/anime themed. And there was this competition to put dry beans from..
...a pile on the table into little origami boxes. Most beans in a minute wins.
I expected the birthday girl to win, and her best friend to come in second. Honestly I didn't really expect to beat her kid sister, but that was kind if my goal.
I won. I had more that twice the beans of anyone else. I literally didn't know that I was even particularly good at using chopsticks, let alone considerably better than my friends.
So that was cool.
All that being said, @silvermyth is completely right, I cannot use attached chopsticks at all. Like, some people say they can only use chopsticks that are attached and in my head I'm always thinking "like, how do you even do that. You can't use chopsticks the right way when they are attached"
