I do them in my toaster oven, and they are awesome.

If you want to use gas, try a butane gas torch with a "Near zero Impurities" brand gas, like it's sold for making Creme Brulee or butane-powered vaporizers. The gas powering your oven has lots of those impurities, in some places it's even laced with some strong smelling chemicals to make leakages easier to detect. Pure butane gas has nearly no smell at all.

Or use wood cause that's free save for the lighter
