Tbh it always annoys me when I see TV shows where it's like they hung someone upside down in some dank prison for 3 days. Admittedly I'm not a doctor, but almost everything i've ever read indicates most people wouldn't survive being hung upside down for more than a few hours-- whether their organs crush their lungs ( asphyxiating them), they have a brain hemorrhage, they panic, their heart gives out, etc etc etc

I searched it and looked at the first four things that came up. It says 20 hours max, between weight of organs, possible blood clots, and possible ruptured vessels. Obviously shows don't look into it or don't care enough to look into it.

Exactly. I mean, most shows aren't using outstanding levels of logic to begin with, but it's just a pet peeve of mine haha. Ithink I remember reading once that in extreme cases people can die in as little as an hour of being hung upside down, but I can't find the reference now

I always think of John Jones who died in the Nutty Putty Cave in Utah. He was trapped upside down for 28 hours, his lungs filled with fluid, and he essentially died of a mixture of drowning and suffocation due to the extremely tight squeeze. I feel awful for him and his family. It was a slow, agonizing, and brutal way to die.
