They're downvoting on just about every post I've been through so far. -shrug- tis the season to be miserable I guess. At least red and green are festive!
I’m really sad that everybody believes this stereotype. Canadians drive 80mph without directionals while littering in mall parking lots and spreading funny coins everywhere that Kwik Fill and Tim Horton’s won’t accept back from me when they give them to me as change.
You know I used to think Canadians littered a pretty average amount. Then I went to San Francisco. Holy fuckballs it's like the trash bin is a foreign concept there. There were literal deer carcasses with trash in the corpse, on the corpse, decorating the antlers, and in all the spaces between. Anywhere there wasn't trash was on fire or just a black patch. I've never seen anything like it.

Then again, I've never been to Toronto, so who knows. I don't honestly know how Canadians compare politeness-wise.

I have had several Americans come through when I worked in retail who got legitimately annoyed and irate if told we couldn't accept their 50$ bills (20$ American was the max. God help anyone who tried to turn away American change), and anywhere I went in America if I accidentally handed them a Canadian coin you'd think I'd straight up tried to smuggle heroin into the shop.
I've also encountered some VERY aggressive-for-no-apparent-reason people in Vancouver, and some fairly shady people in Edmonton. I think the stereotype is probably overplayed, but eh.
Canadian coins are very common in Buffalo and Batavia. Some shops get belligerent and will not accept them from you (because banks won’t accept them). Some of the Tim Horton’s I frequent are pretty strict about it. The Walden Galleria mall is a popular spot for shoppers from Ontario. They drive here wearing their shabbiest clothes, buy clothing at the mall that is tariff and GST and sales tax free, they don these new items in the mall parking lot (sometimes two and three layers) and discard the old clothing, shoes and packaging in the parking lot and then reenter Canada duty free with nothing to declare.
I don't live in or on a border so I'm not familiar with that, but I can imagine it would happen. I've heard of Americans doing similar things, mind you. I think that's just border life. But you can definitely get some grade a douches this far north. Tbh Canada's not even getting along with itself right now
Another cool thing is the red arrow there that tells me that dozens of people think it’s only okay to stereotype if it’s a positive stereotype. Everything I said there is documented by Leos that deal with this stuff.
Wait, that's Japanese. Crap
