A lot of the world already has. In the modern day it serves no functional purpose anymore and studies show it has an adverse effect on most of the population from the sleep disparity.

Because a vision softly creeping...
Turn off alarms while I was sleeping...

And the nightmares..
That were planted in my brain...
Still remain...
Within the sounds of silence..
