Other companies are doing the same, so...

Yeah. It’s a nice theory, and only a complete rube would think a fortune company just did anything without any thought or prudent action towards profit- however google pixel is losing the jack and likely all other phones will before too long. Do you also have conspiracy theories to how Comcast or other providers secretly had agendas to push WiFi simply so they could sell you routers and all your old devices uses phone jacks wouldn’t work? Technology is moving forward. Apple was pretty much the earliest to jump on, but the writing is on the wall. As phones move towards “full glass” and eventually even the paper think or flexible science fiction tech we’ve been ogling for decades- the jacks will all go. Probably the charger ports eventually too. Yes- Apple is a money hungry beast and consumers are its food. Do you think any company would get that rich without knowing something about how to make money? Of course they bought a headphone company. It was smart business either way.

I’ve only ever bought 1 new Apple product in my life. I do not own any type of tablet or pad. I have no smart watches. I don’t even own wireless headphones. I’ve used iPhones since the 3 was out. That’s when I got my used iPhone 1. I’ve had a 3GS when the 6 was out, a 4 when the 10 was out, and I got a 7 which is the only one I ever bought because wasting money on phones isn’t my thing. I built my own computer running IOS, but I don’t use it much because I have my work computers which are PC. So no. I do not. But just because I don’t like some of their prices or philosophies, and just because they make products that I don’t teally need doesn’t mean I have to blindly jump on the bandwagon of hating a company that makes products many people find uses for. I don’t particularly like Mercedes either- but I won’t insult their engineers and they make a fine product. Just not one I want or value. I happen to not be a troll, and actually am an adult-

- so I don’t need to blindly or ignorantly “join teams” on everything in life and echo the same rhetoric to feel cool because I can shit on things. I think that’s a big part of being mature. When you realize that tearing things down won’t make you any better, and that hating on things just because other people like them doesn’t make you “better” because you turn your nose up or reject things they like. I happen to value accuracy and truth. It would be true to say many Apple products are expensive, restrictive, and carry features most people don’t need to survive and live just fine. But that’s true of most consumer goods. Apple has its pros and cons like anything. The pixel 2 has no headphone jack and I’ve yet to see the same enduring hate lobbed at Googles choice. Some people just want a reason to be negative or to pick at something. If you don’t like Apple don’t buy from them. They seem to be ok without your business.

Who the hell felt so personally attacked by this well thought out answer that they had to downvote you

I appreciate that. I don’t live or die over votes, but to be honest I thought the same thing. I wondered who could not only feel so personally effected, but also be unable or too cowardly to voice their issue of concern. But it did make me smile to know someone else wondered the same. I may we’ll be wrong, and any “truth” I know is subjective, so I know my answers aren’t gospel- but I’m open to discuss points- even if no one changes their mind there is always a chance to learn new information, or just see someone else’s point of view. But I suppose some people get really worked up over picking corporate teams or something?

Apple simply don't care about their customers. Look at the problems they cause over fixing the iPhone. Removing the headphone socket was a way of making more money from their customers without giving them the option of using alternatives.

But... they do have the option of using alternatives. They can use any blue tooth headphones they want. They can also use wired headphones by using a jack that connects to the charging port. The jack is free with a new phone, mosdestlt proved from Apple on its own, or available from 3rd party vendors. As for making more money... that’s... that’s what companies do. They kinda need more money because they spent the money you gave them yesterday. Do you think that Google or Microsoft et al. Are in business because they haven’t found their own ways to get more money from people? Some people have bad experiences with Apple, or any company- but in an industry with choices like personal electronics- if most customers really felt wronged by Apple- would they continue to make money? If Apple is the devil you say- do you just think that a major chunk of the world somehow manage to be both comically stupid yet also somehow financially well off enough to keep buying products?

Do you also believe that Toyota only built electric vehicles so they could make more money while not caring about their customers by selling them charger units for their cars?
