Wouldn't it be under a glove? Not that that is a reason to still wear a ring but it would be protected from germs as long as the glove doesn't rip.

"It's an unnecessary hazard, but it'll be fine, as long as the glove doesn't rip" isn't typically an accepted medical practise as far as I know

I'll ask my gynaecologist while I'm there next time. Though I'm not sure wether he wears a ring or not
