Lucas had a vision for Star Wars. To sell toys is one he’s on record for. But sure. He had a story dangit. When he wasn’t so big- politics and money forced him to make the original trilogy which fans loved. He had to compromise his vision hugely- everything from designs to fundamental plot points. But then he was “George Star Wars Lucas.” He had the money and power to make anything his vision demanded. So he made the prequel movies that were and still mostly are panned far and wide- to the point their primary cultural value is as fodder for memes and children’s cartoons. Lego made a better prequel than Lucas because at least theirs was intentionally funny at the funniest parts. Fight me if you disagree. So now George claims betrayal- because he sold his IP for... all the money, and claims he had some awesome ideas for the next leg. 1. Why didn’t he stipulate in the contract some creative control- or at least that they must use his scripts and ideas? 2. How awesome were they?...

... phantom menace awesome George? The new Star Wars films are actually- largely, considered good films by people who don’t even like Star Wars. Most Star Wars fans who aren’t hung up on who made the films, or on how the details that don’t make sense in the new films are different than the details that didn’t make sense in the old ones, or on how the new films are nothing like their favorite EU book or self published fan fiction- like them too. Disney signed her for another 3 years so they at least like her that much. I had memorized New Hope from an LP of the radio dramas before I could ride a bike. I’ve been around the Star Wars block a few times and I just don’t get how people can be upset when they compare these films to the last batch we got. There will not likely in our lifetimes be another film like New Hope. The ship has sailed. But that doesn’t mean they can’t make Star Wars movies and have them be good- and honestly? They are good, and probably all the better with Lucas gone.
