Like can you believe it, he doesn't even have to invest in alcohol. Just imagine the amount of money he would save.

It is strange. He'd be drowsy at important events as well like meetings and other things. Everything comes at a price plus the liver damage that might be occurring. He could've been a closet drinker and not have a liver disesse but poor fellow.
