PC: reliable, long lasting, easy to fix, doesn’t look very nice
Mac: modern, can do impressive things, shuts down quite a bit and is really only made for one purpose
Not necessarily. I’ve had two PC’s - one cracked it’s screen randomly. Turns out that it apparently happens but yet isn’t covered under warranty. The other slowed down beyond use with no malware or viruses or anything. My friends PC got a cracked screen last week with no trauma or explanation. My sisters PC’s hinge failed and cracked the entire front cover without having used any excessive force. Meanwhile the Mac I bought 7 years ago still works like new, zero issues, free OS updates every year, runs fast even when I use up its entire memory and has not failed me even once and this was MacBook with the lowest specs. While I completely understand technology is completely up to personal preference, I would never recommend a PC to anyone just for the fact that you get your money’s worth with a Mac
I'm not sure how a screen cracking is a fault of the PC..unless it was one of those all in one units which are usually trash
Also @creativedragonbaby My pc is beautiful, what you talking about
HDD’s fail and slow all the time, causing computers to run slow. Replacing it with and SSD will make your PC faster than when you bought it. Guaranteed. MacBook hinges are superior to most PC hinges because most manufacturers (Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus) will use plastic housing on their cheaper laptop models. Lest you think mackbooks don’t have their own issues https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AUaJ8pDlxi8&t=1116s
@geekoverlord how is hardware being destroyed beyond use for no apparent reason not a fault of the PC? It wasn’t an all in one unit either and wasn’t exactly cheap. Also I brought up the hardware failure because @creativedragonbaby pointed out the pros of PC’s as reliable, long lasting and easy to fix which is the exact opposite of my experience with PC’s
@grammer_nazi I have no issue with people preferring PC’s but I personally believe that I shouldn’t have to do upgrades every once in a while after I paid good money to buy a PC with the specs I wanted. That’s why for me my MacBook which I never had to upgrade again, even when it was the one with the lowest specs, is better. I might’ve paid more to buy it but I never had to have it out of my hand while I upgraded it / improved it or fixed it which costs money and time which I feel is much fairer deal. I also never have to pay for OS updates and I get quite a lot of useful software for free. So imo macs are worth the money
@geekoverlord i was talking about laptops which are also personal computers but for the sake of the argument a desktop PC is still not exclusively its CPU but would include all hardware components required to run it so yes if theoretically my desktop computer screen had to be constantly replaced that would be a PC issue because it’s part of the computer. Would be the same if I had an iMac. If I had to occasionally buy new parts for it my overall satisfaction over it would go down. I wouldn’t consider it reliable. Sure I can build my own PC with different brands and get the best of each component but here I was talking about a laptop - any PC laptop that wasn’t a Mac against a MacBook. For me macs are just more reliable emphasis on *me*
I think the post was reffering to PC's as the whole tower & monitor setup. Secondly when it comes to cheap laptops apple doesn't really have anything new under $1000 vs PC which has plenty of options even under $500. At that price point you can't expect the product to be the same build quality. However if you go up to MacBook prices for a PC (as I did $1200) not only will your internal specs be a lot faster but the build quality is top notch as well. Bought my ASUS almost 2 years ago now, and haven't had a single issue with it (I also travel a lot, so it gets a ton of use) 16gb ram. Quad core i7 and a 2K display. With a split memory system HDD, & SSD. That gives me a combined 1300gb of storage. (By the way I have nothing against Mac's. There's a reason they're at their price points. Mainly the OS. In the end it really just comes down to why you're buying the computer in the first place.)
@guest true, I’ve never used a 1200$ PC cause I always figured they would fail me too and didn’t want to waste the money. You do get more versatility with PC’s so I completely understand your point now
