Nice job, Google ! That's how you force users to switch to another browser

yep they are either changing something or adding something that will render adblock ineffective it will also be in the chromium browser (basically the open source version of chrome) so any browser that uses chromium as its base and updates it will probably be hit by this too

How can I prevent this from happening? Is there a way?

switch to a non chromium based browser like Firefox

I use Safari and Chrome. Dunno much about any other browser.
