13 people have died so far from the polar vortex. It's not a case of "hah, weaklings", it's the fact that it's really fucking cold. When you hit temperatures like that, your body starts to shut down.
@mrfahrenheit it got to -61 F here with the windchill here in Canada. We all went to class and work like normal. Dress for the weather and it's not that bad.
You're awfully hostile over a joke... good god.

And dying of hypothermia does happen in Canada, though probably less often because we ARE more used to the temperatures. And there are less people. Although there was a man several years ago who went out to start his car in his driveway, slipped on the ice, broke his leg, and froze to death.

That said, Canadians certainly don't mind complaining about the temperatures either.
I'm Canadian and it just pisses me off that it will be really nice for a week (last week) then this week it's down to -20 ish again.. stop teasing me with fake spring!
Haha tbh it annoys me a bit that we've had such a mild winter where I am. Not because I enjoy hostile winters but because normally it's like -20 and I'm like "meh. not pleasant but no big deal." This year I'll go outside and start shivering and it's like "how is it only -14??"
It was -40 ambient and then it was -20 ambient and it felt like a freaking heatwave. Mother nature needs to calm down here in Canada. We were supposed to get 15-30 cm of snow, now only 5-10. Like calm down mother nature,
