I get what you're saying but that detail only applies to the poster, you can just say here's a picture I like or something. I hear people that paint say it all the time, "wow, I don't even remember painting this" and everyone just rolls their eyes because they want someone to say "wow you must be extra talented." It's fantastic that someone can take or paint a great picture, they don't need bonus points tacked on.
That's pretty cynical. I find it funny and I'm happy for someone when they remember an old accomplishment. There's a little bit of self-depreciation in it, Like... "oh... this thing was so bad in my own eyes I forgot about it."
I think you misinterpret my meaning. This may sound even more cynical but my point is that I don't believe people when they say they don't remember it. Not that people remember every single thing they do, but I think a lot of people say it for attention, the pursuit of compliments. Not all the time, but I would say most of the time. I do believe, though, that it comes from a place of insecurity, when someone unfortunately believes they only have one significant talent.
