Men did used to wear skirts. And tunics etc. Everyone did. I mentioned a book in one of the other posts about this, and iirc according to it, pants in parts of Europe partially started being used because men started wearing skirts/tunics/etc that were rather precariously too short

We occasionally learn one thing or another from history, but it's usually about prehistoric reptillian creatures, and very rarely actually helps us cope with our own special brand of self-imposed dysfunction
