I think it's a good movie just not the Citizen Kane-esque masterpiece people make it out to be.

The sign says: “Black Panther wasn’t that good” And the caption in the last panel is Zues’s Line from the actual movie about how someone should call 911 and tell them to hurry because someone (John Mclane) is about to be killed (because he is standing in Harlem wearing that sign.)

No worries. Also- the additional comments weren’t included because I didn’t think you were familiar with diehard with a vengeance, but for context in case anyone else comes into the thread and is unaware.

I liked it, but I've been told that that isn't an indication of whether something is good or not.

It is a good movie, it's just so much pandering by the media... I can see how that turned so many people off. Maybe after Captain Marvel and Shang-Chi (yes, they are gonna make a Shang-Chi movie!), we can get all this out of the way and just be stoked on a movie for being the movie it is. Oh... and The Eternals... apparently one of the leads needs to be gay, but honestly I'd assume that's for story purposes.... or they're looking for someone who can play Star-Fox and seduce EVERYONE around him and just figured a gay guy would be more comfortable? Idk.

I’m not going to say there has been no media pandering, or that all the recent corporate inclusion is altruistic and not based on trying to capitalize on cultural zeitgeist- but... Its easy for us to forget or not realize what a huge deal it can be to people from under represented groups to have positive mainstream portrayals of themselves. That many people have never seen an “avatar” of themselves in this way, and that for many, having this representation can feel like a form of social acceptance. That society is finally saying that them and those like them are welcomed or “good enough” for such representation. That they are being considered and thought of and aren’t just an afterthought or not even considered at all. So while it would be nice to live in a society where it wasn’t a big deal to see representation of various people- that will happen naturally when it is no longer the exception to the rule or a “special project” and instead is just the way things are.

Oh I'm cool with that. Can we go kick ass together now? That's my point.
