I'm pretty sure the "No bringing your own food to the theater" thing is a myth, or no longer enforced...or maybe it differs by state...but I've always just walked in with my snacks and drinks and I've never been told no. I have been stopped a couple times so they could make sure my drink was sealed (no smuggling alcohol), but other than that they don't seem to give a sh*t
On the other hand, I do understand the thrill of sneaking stuff lol

Yeah, it sounds like past propaganda, not unlike Ford (carmaker) creating the term “Jaywalking” (“Jay” was an insult at the time) to get people off the streets so he would have a market for his new invention.
