Let people have fun with it. There’s nothing wrong with depicting he-man as gay. Sure, the loincloths reason is ridiculous.

Agreed. There are compelling and substantiative arguments and all sorts of interpretations of choices made and subtext for He man’s sexuality. For many of the He man properties such as the show- It wasn’t really critical to the story or to the purpose to explore that aspect of the character and so it largely wasn’t. There is no single piece of evidence nor collected body that definitively says he man is or isn’t homo/Herero/bi/pan/ or other sexual. Nor is it terribly relevant to the franchise. Believe as one likes.

What I find interesting is that JK Rowling says a character is gay- and many people jump up in arms. Many say it isn’t about having a bias against homosexuality. Many say it’s because there wasn’t a solid base in the story for it and that’s why they are upset. Many say it’s because they didn’t ask nor need to know a characters sexuality if it wasn’t plot centric. By the same token- using the He Man cartoon as the standard- there is no set up for He Man as heterosexual either. There is no story driven reason for it to matter. I’m curious if anyone who was upset by Rowling would claim He Man couldn’t of shouldn’t be gay- and how they would justify being upset at one character being assigned an orientation outside the scope of the story and not upset by another for being assigned a different orientation.
