The person asked a simple question. You don't know if they criticise everyone. The answerer seems more annoying and over the top than the person who asked the question.

That’s the “pushback.” It’s a big cycle. A person is exposed to those who are extremists in their beliefs or generally unpleasant. They then project that as a stereotype to the whole group. They then encounter a person from that group and have an extreme reaction based on past experiences. Now they’ve become the unpleasant extremist who if the next person allows- will taint their perceptions of the opposite group. So long as this continues with each person being met with hostility or aggression which is paid forward- it will spread until the majority of people develop persecution complexes and “us vs them” divisions that make reconciliation and acceptance that much harder.

Or in simpler terms- people can be obnoxious. I’ve met plenty of “vocal vegans” who fit the meme and annoy or harass, who make ignorant claims and look down on others or try to force their beliefs as the only way. But how many meat eaters do the same? Obnoxiously displaying cuts of meat of discussing or bragging about their food choices? While these boasts don’t tend to be moral based- they are still just the other side of the coin if we think about it. And being obnoxious or divisive isn’t limited to diet choices. Politics, religion, sports; brands of car, clothes, even appliances. Obnoxious people are just obnoxious. If it isn’t about one thing it will be about another. Not all or likely most vegans are so obnoxious about it anymore than everyone who votes plasters their car and home with signs and stickers of their party affiliation.
