In a happy Disney universe of hugs we don’t shout at anyone- least of all those we love. It might be good to try and avoid shouting or being hostile and practice objective, controlled, constructive dialog and expressions of feelings. But... if your man or woman does something you feel you need to speak your feelings about- Everyone has problems, everyone struggles. Your man or woman isn’t a fragile little flower to be shielded from all the unpleasantness of the world. They’re an adult. If you don’t communicate what you expect or what is and isn’t acceptable to your partner you risk building a festering resentment that isn’t healthy to a relationship. So maybe try not to shout, because it’s seldom conducive to constructive healthy dialog, but still say what’s on your mind if it needs said and let them know they can do the same.
Okay, but is she implying women don't go through pain in silence for their families, because that's definitely bullshit. How about just treat eachother with respect and communicate like mature(ish) adults?
It can be read many ways, and certainly phrased more precisely. The key is communication. In seeking to get men to communicate more, it’s important not to “penalize” them when they speak their feelings such as yelling- that just teaches men not to open up for fear of getting in trouble. But at the same time, while one must control their emotions and reactions in such open communication it’s also crucial that in getting men to communicate more that women do not themselves “lose their voice.” So the idea that men have challenges is good to acknowledge but all people have challenges- hence healthy communications seldom but rarely involve shouting by anyone involved.
Never shout at your partner*
.
You can know someone, but you will never really know what they've had to endure or sacrifice to get to where they are.. or, just to try and make 'you' happy.
*shrugs ‘cause I can’t yell at him to watch out*
