I would think the brown coloring would actually be an advantage in the wild, unlike most color mutations, because it would help blend in. But then, let's face it, pandas aren't exactly on the right side of natural selection/evolution

Refer to my comment: pandas are antievolution. Unless, I guess, if you consider cuteness an evolutionary trait, since the only reason they are extinct, despite actively working AGAINST their survival, is because humans find them so adorable we refused to let them go.

Maybe so, but they're still susceptible to genetic mutation, like this brown panda is an example of. And genetic mutation is the key to evolution.
