Therizinosaurus cheloniformis, meaning "Turtle-formed Scythe Lizard", was a species of large theropod dinosaur that lived in late Cretaceous Asia, being among the last and largest of its family. Originally thought to be a large turtle-like reptile due to its claws, hence the species name Cheloniformis, it was later discovered to be a specialized form of theropod dinosaur measuring around 33 feet long and weighing up to 5 tons, being both herbivorous and feathered. It's 6 claws were absolutely huge, the largest of all animal claws even, measuring up to 2.3 to 3.3 feet long, worthy of being called scythes. Despite these fearsome weapons, Therizinosaurus would've used these claws defensively, fending of the likes of Tarbosaurus, a close relative of Tyrannosaurus. Like many species of the late Cretaceous, it was a victim of the mass extinction event at the end of the period.
