There is a next step though. The one where you buy a new vacuum and get disappointed because you expected better performance and liked the attachments of your old vacuum or the way the cord was stored or something better. Then you try to rationalize buying a new new vacuum that is better so you can rekindle that joy you felt when you were younger at buying a new vacuum, but it’s a shame and a waste to get rid of a brand new vacuum. So you have to wait for a friends kid or something to go to college so you can give them your “new,” now gently used vacuum and pony up the extra $200-300 you knew you should have spent the first time to buy the vacuum you wanted. Then you die and leave that vacuum to your kids who destroy it and spend 20-40 years repeating the cycle until they finally get a good vacuum.

I ordered a carpet cleaner and spent the next three days as giddy as if grand theft auto 6 was about to come out
