I’ve actually seen people asking for money who did have square reader and a smart phone. The “I’ll go with you to get cash” or the “that store there has an ATM” are two other ones I’ve come across. One time, I was going into a convenience store and told the guy asking for money outside I didn’t have cash- so he walked into the store, grabbed 2 40oz beer cans and ordered 2 burgers at the register, and then told the cashier as I was walking up- “he’s paying together.” I thought that was pretty aggressive.
