Is this only in Sydney? I just assumed it was a standard commuter train feature everywhere. I'll admit I haven't been on many trains outside of Sydney.

Visited an American railroad museum many years ago and rode on a 1860's train. It had these same seats. Glad you could finally join us in the 19th century Straya.
