I call my mom who lives back in Texas every other day or so never letting it go over a week. It used to be every day but with her having cancer it's hard for her to talk on the phone every day.
But she goes to Facebook and looks around so for her alone I post pictures and videos of not just me, my husband and my daughter but anything I know make her laugh or a recipe I know she would love. (She collects recipes) or just a small message to her.
Of all the many things this overlooks- here’s a very simple one. Sometimes it isn’t about the person who is showing everyone they cared- sometimes people want to show off everyone that cares for them. Just as some people take holiday or birthday cards they receive and put them on display somewhere in their home or office. So it doesn’t automatically show vanity or the like on the part of the poster- the receiver may be the one who prefers to receive public validation compared to more discreet displays of affection.
I wish all the moms a happy mother's day, then single mine out. I also visited her, brought her surprises and cooked for her. Can't you post AND care about mom?
