In fairness it’s not exactly like the much lauded Christian Bale filled the role with nuance. He had 4 notes of course, 2 for each persona. American psycho, concerned emo, raspy whisper, raspy angry- not exactly Shakespeare. Bafflec has produced notable performances in his career, but he’s also been in many roles that were just written terribly or cast terribly. In his time as Batman I can’t really think of an actor who could have taken the role and made it or the movies it was written for much better.

Oh heck, if Micheal Keaton was still young and he was announced as Batman today- or Adam West, people would probably think it was a terrible idea as well- but both produced iconic and much loved versions of the character. Daniel Craig was hotly denounced when he was picked for Bond and he went on to great critical and public acclaim in the role. They aren’t exactly casting against type for the character. Brice Wayne is Batman man- but he was born a man. He’s a rich kid who can pass as a rich socialite playboy. He blends in and is believable as one- so it will come down to acting and writing more than anything. Physique wise The role requires believable size and muscle tone, but nothing extreme.
