Actually- it’s rather common for cars to be referred to as “she” as is- although some do choose “he.” Common coequal phrases include things like: “She’s a beauty...” “let’s see what she can do..” “You can do it old girl...” etc. airplanes as well are often referred to as she- and presumably because of the naming of ships and the thought it was unlucky to do otherwise, the traditionally more common anthropomorphization of any vehicle skews to female- however like any human tendency, the “personality” an individual ascribes is whatever works in their head, and gender politics of late has also boosted the incidence of those who for such reasons make it a point to use male pronouns in defiance of tradition.
