Speaking up against the ban is not just 'benefitting them'. It's about standing up for humanity. About the fact that rape victims, even if they survive the rape, can die every day slowly, at the hands of their rapist. In fact, the laws would encourage just that. You don't have to like abortion to fight for it. You just need to understand that for some, there is no other choice. Banning it won't stop it, it will only stop the safe methods to do it.
Absolutely, more voices of reason and sense.
Also, we can now add Missouri to the states which actively REFUSED to allow an exemption for victims in their ban. YAY land of freedom, unless you have a vagina.
“No uterus no opinion” is first of all, not a universal stance of all women, and second of all it is primarily intended to say that men can’t tell women what to do with their bodies- something these laws attempt to do- thusly if you were genuinely under the impression you didn’t get an opinion and wished to honor that and not just troll, then the default action would be to oppose these bills or laws. And men DO get an opinion and emotions. It’s your mouth too and she can feel any think certain ways about what you do with it- but ultimately it’s your choice and “she” isn’t passing laws that say you can’t do what you want, kids who you want or eat what you want. So don’t be a child. People use slogans because they’re catchy and don’t require writing paragraphs of exposition like this- they assume and hope you’re smart enough to realize the context.
People think my posts are too long and this is why. Because of ignorance. The percentage of people who would understand shorter posts are the ones who need to hear it most. Sometimes we have to break out the diagrams and explain things to people or else they’ll run off a cliff with what they WANT to read into what you say and not what you are actually saying.

Did you seriously just say people think your posts are too long because they're ignorant?
No. But you just proved my point, and on a post that itself wasn’t very long. I said my posts have to be long because people like the person in this meme have to have their hands held and cannot be relied upon to draw a logical or reasonable conclusion from a succinct non technical message. If people want to see people as being horrible, being vicious, being one dimensional, being ridiculous, or even insulting them they will see that. Writing doesn’t carry the inflection and expressions of face to face spew I and we often do not know the writer well enough to read their meaning in text. If I wanted to say that people who don’t read long posts were ignorant- that is what I would have said, I specifically said that much of the content of long posts isn’t for those who would understand a short post- although not said but to be inferred was that people may still find interesting or useful information in a long post.
The problem is thus: if a person considers you in authority- and you cannot trust in their comprehension- you issue short and simple statements. When an average person asks my expertise if they should turbo charge their car- I might say: “no. You’ll get worse mileage and more expense, it’s difficult and expensive and the results won’t be worth it.” That’s not factual. It doesn’t have to be any of those things and forced induction is a complex subject. But they trust my expertise and a simple “no.” Is really enough.
However when there is disagreement, your simple “no” is not enough. Your word means as much as the next persons. So context must be provided. The type of person most suited to turbocharge their own car wouldn’t need me to explain compression ratios and EGT or EFR or any number of principals. Someone capable but not knowledgeable may not need all that information but might find some useful, and the type of person who really shouldn’t do it will need all that information and will hopefully do some research. In reality though- most people tend to place themselves within the range of competence. We tend not to like to admit ignorance- so differentiating the two can be near impossible when your speaking o a broad audience.
Thusly, since we cannot assume competency of any level, it’s helpful to supply sources, an accounting of logic and mechanics, and context as applicable. Since we can’t assume we are in a position of authority either, a simple “yes” or “no” also doesn’t carry much weight, and for those who do not know the “why” of a thing can provide a foundation of learning so that they can learn.
So not wanting to read a long comment doesn’t make one ignorant, and that isn’t what I said at all. I merely was stating that it is for that exact reason that more comprehensive answers are often employed, to attempt to avoid possible misunderstanding or assumptions so that both parties can communicate with equal footing. Many arguments aren’t even disagreements as much as they are each side making certain assumptions that could be avoided through clear communication and agreements on definitions of terms and what evidence is acceptable.
Seriously, breath hun, don't let the idiots give you arthritis or carpal tunnel. Obviously SOMEONE didn't actually think before responding to you, because it was obvious you were referring to the ignorance you are arguing against as the cause for your lengthy responses, not to every reader (admittedly that could be because I'm familiar with your stance and comments but I felt it was clear).
But, honestly, try not to get too worked up, there are a ton of people online who spew ignorance and hate just to rile people up. They are trolls and don't deserve any attention.
Thank you celticrose. I appreciate it. And no worries. I’m not worked up. I just tend to naturally speak that way. There are a few times people on here have been able to touch a nerve with me, but it’s relatively rare.
If I could type that much I probably would, but it takes me so long to type my admittedly wordy but not on par with you, comments I just give up. Especially when it becomes clear you are talking to someone who actively CHOOSES ignorance or is so self righteous there is literally no point in trying to reason with them. And in all honesty, the way this site is going, I'm not going to be here much longer. It seems to be getting a the point the majority are either trolls or immature teenagers who think they know everything about how the world works. There's really only a handful of us left and its become obvious there isn't anyone bothering to oversee the site.
Sometimes I feel that way too. The lack of moderator presence, the lack of decorum or enforcement, etc. and as you say- there are so many trolls and it’s becoming more and more a dumping ground for politically subversive extremists of both bents and just straight up trolls- but.... there are good people and good memes. In my case I was some willfully ignorant asshole teenage know it all- so I hold hope in my heart that the words these kids hear today might someday reach them when they’re ready to learn.
Also- I end up with many small and some large gaps in my day where I’m waiting for various things or my focus isn’t needed. So I have this dead time that isn’t enough to do anything too involved since I’ll have to go back to what I was doing shortly, but is sizable enough that added up I’d rather not just sit there doing nothing. So looking at memes and going through comments fills it perfectly.
Could you be any more respectable? P.s. I hope our last conversation is water under the bridge, as there was a huge misunderstanding...although, I kind of got a kick out of how you went off on me. Somehow, that felt neat.
There is no ill will from me to you. As far as misunderstandings, I am as guilty of those from time to time as anyone. I may disagree with any given person on occasion, but by and large where there is respectful discourse and attempts at understanding there’s nothing to be upset over. Speaking of respect- I apologize if I was disrespectful at all or cake off that way. I’m certainly not perfect, and sometimes do act in non constructive ways.
