I've met enough people on both sides of the spectrum to know that making generalizations is pretty fucking retarded.
And stinginess with money really depends more on how good your relationship with them is, anyways.
You know how people stay rich? They know how to spend their money.
And how people get poor? By spending their money poorly.
If you got 20 bucks in your bank account and buy 5 people a drink each weekly, you gonna be homeless pretty soon.
The only people who complain about paying back the money are the ones who do not intend to pay it back.
This is actually a really interesting topic of debate, but mostly irrelevant to the US.
As far as I understand the formation of the UK political sphere however, the Conservative, or the Tory party are essentially the transformed remains of the aristocracy, with the history, education and lineage still running through it all. And the Labor party used to be, as all left-wing movements, the voice of the working class.
The reason why that is important in the first place, is that any aristocracy despises the lower class people at its worst, or considers itself to be smarter and more fit to rule at best. And since aristocracies tend to create insular upper class cultures, they become isolated and distinct from the common people.
So essentially the same class divide that existed in the previous political eras still exists today. Someone from the upper class culture who lost their wealth would still be recognisably upper class, by their manners, accent, manner of speaking, etc.
And someone from the lower class, even if they get rich, will still be culturally distinct from the established sphere.
You look at someone like Tommy Robinson, who came from the very bottom and is trying to reason with the establishment, and you see that they despise him not only because he goes against their will, but also because they are repulsed by the cultural aspects of the working class which he embodies.
Of course, at this point, the UK Conservatives have lost their principles, and are only running on the basis of preserving something they no longer understand. Which is why Labor pushes them around on almost any regard. They no longer have a moral foundation for their actions.
Which is why the Tories are full of remainers, and refuse to carry out the will of the people properly. And hence, seeing as both major parties failed their people, you can see the rise of alternatives, such as UKIP.
.
Anyway, I'll stop here before this rant goes any further, but you get my point.
I used to deliver pizza all the time and the poorer a person was the better they would usually tip. Which explains why churches never tipper me, the cheap gits.
